I know, I know - it's Manic Monday but I missed it yesterday. Now before y'all go worrying your beautiful selves I'm not in that space these days though my spending habits of late would argue otherwise ;-)
I am, however, very excited about next week. Why? I have the opportunity to travel for work and I'm taking it. It's a 3-day paid vacation; vacation from our home, my fabulous kids, and darling hubby. Granted, it's Huntsville, Alabama, but hey, it's not home. I'll get to sleep a ton (more than 4-5 hours) and do nothing on my down time (which I rarely have any of), if I choose. Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit - a lot - I have more down time than I realize. But still, 3 days of no dishes, no laundry, no cooking dinner (I'll do that before I leave), and no sharing of my side of the bed with J (he sneaks in during the night these days).
The kids were great over the long weekend. J was the perfect Angel on Friday and an ok Angel the rest of the time. He's going through some boundary pushing, again (or still). He is so much like myself and daddy it's scary. He is the best parts of both of us. He even suffers some of the same "I'm thinking" looks D has.
A is growing like a weed. She had her 18mo check up on Friday and is right on track at 25.5 pounds and 32.5 inches tall. Now, she's not the brute her big bro is (45.5 pounds and 42.5 inches tall) but that's ok - she's a girl. We took them for haircuts on Sunday. Needless to say A was a total girl about the whole experience - it was her first time in the chair. She sat so still and tall - watched everything the lady did with great interest.
I've been very focused on getting our home out of CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) using the tools at www.FlyLady.net. For those that live in perpetual clutter and a plethora of toys, papers, and general junk, I swear by this plan. I’ve managed to maintain the kitchen since we returned to our home after the fires. I’ve now got the kitchen bar and dining areas in some order.
The rest of the house still needs help but I have a plan and will get to it all by the end of the year. It will be so nice to start off 2008 with a clean and organized home.
Here are pics of the kids on Thanksgiving and A’s first haircut.

We're Home!
It is amazing what a week away from the house can do to one's perspective. Maybe it was being chased out by fire. Either way, our house is our home again and we love it!
The kids did amazingly well during the time away. They are sleeping more, but we're not knocking it.
Sooooooo...the house is getting cleaner with each passing day. D and I are back at work and things seem closer to normal.
That's All Folks =)

Hi Family and Friends.
Wanted to say we are doing ok with the SoCal fires. We were evacuated from our home in Ramona late Sunday evening and have yet to get back there. All access points are closed due to active fire or hot spots.
We are staying with my mom, which is a stress in and of itself, and managing to co-exist. I started back to work yesterday; thank goodness I have work I can do from home so everyone is ok with that.
D stopped in to his office yesterday and manages a few hours of work every day.
All things considered, the kids are doing great with the whole mess. J really needs to get out and run around but air quality is so poor that even with a mask I'd prefer to keep him indoors (we've had some asthma issues with him). A is dealing fairly well too. Slumping appetites are the worst signs of stress.
Love to you all,
V.

My first attempt at creating a blog has been challenging, even for this computer geek.
I will attempt to keep our family happenings updated here. So many of you are out of state, or in general, out of regular contact.
I have set up an online photo area for updated pic of the kids which I will link from here. My, they grow up so fast.
Anyway, stay tuned!.
